One of the most exciting transformations was the conversion of the third garage bay into a second home office and music jam room. Partnering with JC Custom Remodeling, we reimagined this space to include: Custom white oak cabinetry with custom storage built for amps, cords, and other equipment. A mini dry bar featuring a smoked mirrored glass backsplash and a honed marble countertop. Soundproof wood slat acoustic panels for a modern, yet functional accent wall. A curved bookcase detail that integrates beautifully with the cabinetry and wood slat wall, creating an intentional focal point. Curated furnishings like a comfortable tufted sofa (a take on the modern classic library sofa with distressed velvet), and a vintage-inspipred performance rug brought warmth and comfort. I also selected a curvy armless chair which is ideal for guitar sessions.
This swanky retreat reflects a speakeasy lounge vibe, offering both a practical workspace and an inspiring creative haven. The client told me after it was all said and done that his kids love to pile onto the sofa and just hang out in the room as a family. Together, they build memories and learn new songs. That’s what good design should do—it brings people together.
Garage Conversion Turned Multifunctional Retreat
The home office features a fully custom desk designed by Bekah Hernandez in collaboration with Scout Design Studio as the manufacturer. With an organic-shaped top and intricately crafted fluted legs that discreetly house electrical cords, the desk exemplifies smart design and craftsmanship. This bespoke piece creates an elegant yet practical workspace that’s not only ergonomic but blends seamlessly with the home's luxurious ambiance.
A Custom-Designed Home Office
The living room serves as a testament to the harmonious marriage of art and design. Acting as an extension of the entryway, which feels like a miniature art gallery when you walk into the home, the living room builds on this theme of curated beauty and refinement. Its focal point is a stunning custom sculpture of a woman with butterflies, which was sourced by the client while vacationing in New Mexico. This piece anchors the space with its striking presence. Neutral tones provide a calming base, while rich pops of color bring vibrancy and joy, perfectly reflecting the personality of the family who calls this home.
Living Room Elegance
The playroom was thoughtfully designed to be a space that appeals to both kids and adults. It offers a dedicated area for the kids to collaborate on homework and a cozy spot to relax and watch movies or play video games. A standout feature of this room is a custom velvet sofa bed, which pulls out to a queen-sized bed for hosting overnight guests. We also added custom cabinetry beneath the screen to house games and electronics. This multi-functional space balances practicality with comfort and fun, making it a favorite retreat for the whole family.
