Warm, Moody Tones
If you haven’t painted since 2010, you’re in luck! This year, warm, moody colors such as browns, reds, and burgundies are in. Out: the days of head-to-toe gray interiors (good riddance!) and harshly painted exteriors such as black trim and bright white paint. If you want to add some drama to a room, color drenching could be for you! Color drenching is the technique of saturating the room with one color, from baseboard, to wall, to ceiling. This is best in a room with lots of windows, but we’re excited to see it utilized this year.

Sustainability
Sustainability has been a buzzword for the past couple years, but in 2024 we will see it majorly play out in interior design. Consumerist mindsets have been replaced with asking “what do I really need?” and investing and waiting on the perfect piece. Antiquing, thrifting, and exploring Facebook Marketplace or vintage websites like Chairish or First Dibs are an excellent way to find that one-of-a-kind piece, help the planet, and create an intentional space.

Individualist Design
Clean Girl Aesthetic made its mark in 2023, but we predict 2024 will be more tailored to the individual, unique, and intentional. Design won’t be as cookie cutter as in the past, with people embracing originality and doing what feels best in their own space. We will see rich statement colors, patterns, and shapes. Furniture and lighting will take on funky shapes and be playful with scale, creating an interesting, yet intentional space. Just imagine: oversized lighting paired with a curvy coffee table in a color drenched room. Sounds exciting!
